Meaning & Symbolism
The breath of the composition — invisible force made visible. Wind bars carry speed and tension, and their hard geometry contrasts the organic subjects they frame.
The Story
The stacked black bands of tattoo wind grew out of the stylised gusts of ukiyo-e. In a suit they do structural work: hard horizontal strokes that lock a tiger or hannya into the surrounding background and keep large areas of skin visually taut.
